With
knowledge now the fundamental basis of competitive advantage, the
University of Houston – Victoria has developed an innovative,
practical new program:
Master of Science in Economic
Development and Entrepreneurship
-Designed to meet the needs of entrepreneurs who want to start or
expand a small business.
By combining traditional economic development and
entrepreneurship, this 36 credit hour program offers you a complete
understanding of the economic development process. As a student in
this program, you’ll begin with an introduction to economic
development and entrepreneurship. The topics covered in this first
course include small business development and government subsidies.
Subsequent courses cover such topics as:
- Entrepreneurship and innovation (e.g., identifying and evaluating
business opportunities)
- Developing the business plan
- Sources of early-stage financing, financial analysis and control
- Private and public funding sources, strategic planning, and human
resource issues
- Economic development financing
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Supply-chain, cluster and location analysis
- The culmination of the program is an economic development and
entrepreneurship project, which will allow you to apply everything
you’ve learned to a real-world situation
